Colder than Siberia?

It was reported today that our weather this month has been colder than Siberia and Fairbanks, Alaska....

This is why my poor hiking blog has sat idle all year.. In fact, the snow level is at 2500 feet and most all the trails in the Olympic National Forest are at a higher elevation than the snow level.

Very sad, I really want to get out and hike. Thankfully, I have a great distraction called "Grand Theft Auto 4". So, instead of hiking, I have spent my June weekends stealing cars and shooting up the place.

This year, there are two hikes that I would like to try. The first one is Mt Townsend. It's a tougher hike than any I did last year, about 5.3 miles to summit, 6200 feet at the top. It may be August before I can get there...

The next one is Shi Shi beach, called one of the best wilderness beaches in the country by the Travel channel. Its a 3 mile hike to the beach, and obviously, there is no elevation gain. I love the ocean, this intrigues me. I'd like to hike out and camp overnight on the beach. I am sure it will be quite scenic if I make it.

stay tuned, hopefully I will have more than complaining and dreaming in this blog...
